Acrylic Ornaments: A Splash of Holiday Color

Acrylic ornaments are my favorite to make.

These are another easy set acrylic ornaments to make this holiday season. I love these because you get to let your creativity flow however you like. There’s no wrong or right way to make them. Not only are they the perfect touch on your christmas tree but they are the perfect finishing touch to any gift. You will need a cutting machine like a cricut to cut the svgs needed for these ornaments. Let’s jump in and show you how to make your own!

To make things easy we put all of our favorite supplies into a shopping list for you. Check it out here!

Grinch Acrylic Ornament

acrylic ornaments

If you have a grinch lover this is the perfect ornament for them. Here is the svg you will need for this project.

Here is the Grinch face that I used. Upload into your cutting machine software to make an into svg.

What you will need:

  • Blank acrylic round
  • Grinch svg
  • Green All Purpose Acrylic Paint
  • Rubbing alcohol

How to make:

  1. Your acrylic rounds will have a film on the back and the front to prevent any scratches. Start by peeling off 1 side. This will be your backside.
  2. After you peeled off the film now you can start painting it green. You can choose to cover the whole back or just half. This is up to you. I did the whole thing for my ornament.
  3. Let dry
  4. While your paint is drying you can start cutting your svg out with your cutting machine and weeding out the pieces not needed for this project.
  5. After your paint has dried, flip over your acrylic round and start peeling off the film. Once you get the film off rub a small amount of rubbing alcohol on it. This helps your vinyl to stick better.
  6. Now it’s time to add your grinch face to the acrylic round. If you use transfer tape it makes this step go so fast.
  7. You can seal your vinyl with modpodge glue or leave as is. This is up to you. I did not seal my ornament.

Maybe the Grinch isn’t your thing and you want to make another theme. That’s totally fine just follow the steps above, change the paint colors and the svg. Google has a ton of free svg that you can find. Etsy is another great place to look!

Here’s another one I made to show you. This one we mixed blue and white paint and used a Let It Snow svg.
