Easy Breakfast Sausage Bites

If your kids love McDonald’s McGriddles, they’re going to go crazy for these easy and tasty sausage bites! They’ve got that sweet and savory flavor we all love—and after one bite, all my kids were asking for more!

Breakfast sausage bites = Happy kids

These sausage bites are a total win in our house! My daughter can’t have MSG in her diet, which makes finding store-bought sausage sandwiches nearly impossible. So when we came across this simple recipe, we were excited to give it a try. They did not disappoint! Now she gets to enjoy the sausage flavor she loves, and I feel good knowing exactly what’s in them.

What you need for these sausage bites:

Sausage: You can use your favorite Pre-made patties or cook up your own. I used the Banquet brand for ours. You can also change this to Bacon if you would like.

Pancake mix: Any will work so grab your favorite.

Syrup: Grab your favorite. Maple syrup is what the original recipe that I got this idea from called for.

Cheese Slices: This is something you can leave out like we did or use your favorite.

Let’s get cooking:

Sausage Bites

Prepare your pancake mix

In a mixing bowl mix your mix according to your package. You will need a good amount of mix. In this step I like to add syrup into the mix. I don’t have a measurement, I just eye it. There’s no wrong amount.

Cook your sausage

In a skillet cook your sausage patties on both sides till golden brown on medium heat. When done, remove from heat and set aside.

Cook pancakes

In a pan (or griddle) pour your mix for the size you need to make your sandwiches. You want them close to the size of your pancakes. Cook till golden brown.

Let’s make the Sandwiches

Start off by placing down one pancake. On that pancake top it with one sausage, drizzle syrup on top of your sausage, place your slice of cheese on your sausage and then top off with another pancake.

Storing your sausage bites:

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • For freezer storage, wrap the sandwiches in freezer paper and place them in an airtight container.

These sausage bites make great make ahead breakfast for busy mornings. We’re obsessed with these sausage bites and we hope your family loves them just as much! They’re quick, tasty, and totally crave-worthy. Now for the real question… are you Team Sausage or Team Bacon? Drop your vote below!
