One of my New Year goals for 2026 is to spend less money at Starbucks and make my coffee at home. In theory, this should be easy…especially since I used to be a Starbucks barista and still remember a lot of the recipes. But let’s be real, it just doesn’t taste the same when you make it yourself. Somehow, coffee always tastes better when someone else makes it for you.
Still, those daily runs add up fast. So instead of cutting out my favorite drinks completely, I decided to start making simple DIY coffee drinks at home that feel just as cozy and fun without the extra cost. Because honestly, saving money and still enjoying good coffee feels like a win-win.
To keep these drinks budget-friendly, I stick to a few essential ingredients that can be used in multiple recipes. Instead of buying specialty items for every drink, I focus on basics like coffee, milk or creamer, and simple flavor add-ins that last longer and stretch further. As a result, I’m able to make a variety of café-style drinks at home without overspending. Plus, having these staples on hand makes mornings easier and cuts down on those last-minute coffee runs.
