Indoor play ideas to keep kids busy on cold days
When you live in Colorado Springs, you quickly learn that the weather can change its mind faster than your kids can change their snack requests. One minute it’s sunshine and hiking weather… next it’s snowing sideways and everyone is bouncing off the walls inside the house.
As a busy hockey family, we live for those pockets of free time. Especially when we get a tiny break from the rink. Over the years, we’ve found some incredible indoor play spots around Colorado Springs that save the day on cold, windy, or just plain chaotic afternoons. Some of these places we’ve personally explored as a family (and absolutely loved), and a few were highly recommended by friends and are sitting at the top of our “must visit next” list.
Whether you have toddlers, big kids, or a mix of both, this list of 12 indoor play spots in Colorado Springs will help you plan your next family outing no matter what the weather decides to do. From hands-on learning spaces to energy-burning adventure spots, there’s something here for every kind of kid.
Let’s dive into our favorite indoor fun around the Springs!
We the Rock at The Spectrum is one of those places every parent with high-energy kids hears about and immediately wants to try! From everything we’ve heard (and from friends who rave about it), it sounds like the perfect spot for your 2 high-energy boys to climb, jump, and burn off all that extra steam. With their inclusive, sensory-friendly indoor play center with climbing, swings, zip lines, crafts & zones for toddlers to teens. I have a feeling this one might become a regular go-to spot for your family!
Play Street is the perfect indoor play spot for kids ages 1–6! For just $16, your little one gets 1.5 hours of playtime in a space designed just for them. We absolutely love the themed play areas. They’re set up perfectly for imaginative play and make it so easy for kids to jump right into creative fun. From pretend play to hands-on exploring, there’s something to spark every little imagination.
Be sure to follow their Facebook page to stay up to date on all their fun events happening throughout the year — you won’t want to miss them!

Located inside Chapel Hills Mall, this large indoor play area is a total win for families! I love that it’s thoughtfully designed with separate spaces for toddlers and bigger kids (up to age 10), so everyone can play safely and have fun at their own pace.
From exciting slides and ball pits to fun inflatables and imaginative play zones, there’s something here to keep kids moving, laughing, and burning off that endless energy.
This one is definitely high on our list we can’t wait to check it out soon!

Lost Realm Adventure Park (formerly known as Lost Island Adventure Park) is hands-down our family’s favorite place to play mini golf! What makes it even better? They also have a fun indoor play area for kids 52 inches and under. For just $10, your little one gets a full hour of playtime climbing, sliding, and burning off energy — and there are comfortable spots for Mom to relax and watch the littles have a blast (which we all appreciate!).
As the weather starts warming up, this is definitely a place to keep on your radar. Between mini golf, jungle climbing, and ninja warrior-style fun, there’s truly something for everyone in the family.
We have been loving this hidden gem in Colorado Springs for years — and the best part? It’s completely FREE!
This indoor play area is such a win for families. Kids can climb through a real airplane, crawl through a cave that connects the rooms, and race down a three-story slide that never gets old. There’s also a separate toddler room, which makes it perfect for families with littles of all ages.
Make sure you grab the scavenger hunt sheet near the slide. Once the kids complete it, they can take it up to the visitor desk for a fun surprise!
One of my favorite things? The kids can burn off all that energy and then we can grab lunch at the café with super budget-friendly options. It makes for such an easy (and affordable) family outing. We’re already planning our next visit over spring break!

Libraries are one of those hidden gems we moms sometimes forget about but they are SO much more than just books! Your local library often offers storytimes, seasonal crafts, themed activities, and even dedicated play spaces for kids to explore. It’s an easy (and usually free!) way to get out of the house and let the kids learn and play at the same time. And of course, don’t forget to browse the shelves before you leave! Let the kids pick out a few fun books to take home! It keeps the fun going long after you walk out the doors.
Both of these spots are new-to-us, and we seriously can’t wait to check them out soon with the kids! They both look like such fun (and educational!) family outings here in Colorado Springs.
A children’s museum designed to spark exploration and curiosity through hands-on exhibits and interactive play. From creative stations to engaging learning spaces, this looks like the perfect spot for kids to learn through play. This has been talked about in mom groups a lot lately and I can’t wait to take my younger two one day.
Right now the museum is closed but connect on Facebook to stay update when they will be opening.
If you have kids who love space (or just love hands-on activities), this one looks incredible! With space science exhibits, robotics stations, planet displays, and interactive STEM fun, it feels like an adventure waiting to happen.
We’re especially excited about this one it’s high on our list for our next family outing!
Main Event Entertainment is such a fun option for a family outing! Not only do they have bowling, but they also offer laser tag and an arcade. We’ve noticed they’ve been adding new games the last couple of times we’ve visited, which keeps it exciting for the kids (and let’s be honest… the adults too 😉).
It’s one of those places that works for multiple ages and energy levels, making it an easy win for a fun day out!
Dave & Buster’s is such a fun arcade spot for the whole family! From classic games to newer interactive ones, there’s something for every age to enjoy.
Pro tip: Always check their website/app before you go. They often have deals and specials that can save you money on game play and food. It’s an easy way to stretch the fun a little further!

City Rock is an indoor rock-climbing gym with routes for all ages, making it such a fun option for active kids (and adventurous parents too!). They even have a special kids’ play area called The Aerie that looks absolutely perfect for future little rock climbers.
We haven’t been yet, but it’s definitely on our list for Spring Break! It seems like the perfect way to burn off some energy while trying something new and building confidence along the way.
As a hockey family, you can probably guess we spend a lot of time at open skates! 🏒⛸️ One of my favorites is the matinee skate at Sertich Ice Center — it’s just $3, which is such a great deal for some family fun.

It’s an easy, affordable way to get on the ice, practice skills, and let the kids burn off some energy. You really can’t beat that price for a fun afternoon together!
We hope this list of indoor play ideas helps you on those days when the kids are bouncing off the walls and you’re just trying to figure out something to do. As a busy mom, I know I sometimes forget just how many fun options we have right here in Colorado Springs.
