This past weekend we did a family day and visited the Gaylord Rockies ICE in Denver, Colorado where the theme was A Christmas Story. This was my first time coming to Gaylord ICE! I was amazed at the work of each and every piece that was there.  I learned that it took two million pounds of colorful ice being sculpted to make the story come to life.

So many pieces to show but here are a few of the family favorites!

The details in each piece still amazes me!

Ice Slides! Fun for all ages! This was a favorite with all my kids.

Some more activities that you can add on to your tickets

The fun continues after walking through the Ice sculptures. The Gaylord goes above to make the magic of Christmas come alive. Along with the ticket you can buy extra activities. We did the scavenger hunt and elf training. Which was the perfect amount for the kids.

The Christmas Village that you walk around for more activities.

The elf training is where you paint a toy to go home with you.  You can choose to paint your toy there or take it home. We took ours home with us. Which worked out perfectly because the next day we had a snowy day and the kids enjoyed painting them at home.

Next we did our scavenger hunt. Get ready for some more walking. You will differently get your steps in with this activity. It was a lot of fun…once we figured out what we were looking for. Once we figured that out it went quicker. The kids really enjoyed it. If you’re thinking of doing this heads up you’re looking for big cardboard pictures with letters or pictures on them. The kids really enjoyed the scavenger hunt. At the end you even get a little fun gift.

Between the toy to paint and the small gift the kids were super happy!

Some other activities that you can do that we didn’t are:

  • Gingerbread Decorating
  • Story time with Mrs. Clause
  • Cirque: Spirit of Christmas

I did notice that each Location has different activities so these are just what was available at the Denver location.

Makes the best experience Christmas gift:

If you are looking for an experience gift to give this Holiday and are local to a Gaylord Resort I would recommend this for sure! I requested experience gifts for my kids this year. This day trip was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa. Which all the kids enjoyed! Even my teenager loved this gift! That’s a win in my book!
