Why we love snickerdoodle cookies:

Snickerdoodles are a staple in our house during the holidays. These were the first cookies I made for my husband when we were dating. So we always make sure to make 1 or 2 batches a season. They have become a family favorite and the kids just all love this recipe! What I love about this recipe it’s so easy that even little ones can help make the cookies with you.

Ingredients your will need to bake your cookies:

The typical snickerdoodle recipe includes ingredients such as flour, butter, sugar, eggs, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Cream of tartar is a key ingredient that gives snickerdoodles their characteristic tangy taste plus their chewy texture. The dough is usually rolled into balls, coated in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, and then baked until the cookies are golden brown.

A few tips for the best snickerdoodles:

  • Be sure to measure your flour accurately or you’ll end up with dry cookies. Make sure you don’t pack your flour into your measuring cup.
  • DON’T SKIP the cream of tartar step. This is where the chewiness comes from.
  • Make sure that your butter is at room temperature so it creams right.
  • You can make the dough in advance. You can wrap tightly with clear wrap and refrigerate for up to 48 hours. When you’re ready to bake your cookies, let your dough get to room temperature.
  • You want to store these cookies in an airtight container. Don’t store in the fridge this will dry out your cookies.
