DIY Cookie Advent: Countdown to Christmas

We all love our chocolate advent calendars. But let me share with you our new favorite DIY Sugar Cookie Advent!

Cookie Advent

These were so easy and fun to make. I’m thinking we’ll be making these every year now. As a peanut allergy family this will be safe for my boys.

What you need to make your cookie advent calendar:

  • Pre-made Sugar cookie dough

For this you can use Pillsbury or make your own. For ours I want easy and used Pillsbury break and bake sugar cookies. Worked out perfectly.

  • Chocolate

You’re going to melt this to fill in your numbers.

  • Numbers

The Video that I saw used wooden puzzle pieces. I couldn’t find some so we had abc magnets at home so I used those and it worked out perfectly!

  • Sprinkles

To make them and fun for the holidays!

How to make your Advent cookies

  1. Make your cookies according to the package
  2. As the cookies are cooling this is when you’re going to press in your numbers (1-24).
  3. After the cookies have cooled and all the numbers are pressed. Start melting your chocolate in the microwave in 30 second increments.
  4. Place your melted chocolate into a zip lock for easy piping. And start filling in your numbers.
  5. Let cool. I placed mine in the refrigerator for 10 min to make sure the chocolate got hard.

Storage:

You can store these in an airtight container. When I was playing around with these I put some in the freezer in ziplock bags. Pull the cookie out and let it defrost for an hour. I will be making ours and freezing them. I will pull them out a couple days at a time.

Hope you enjoyed this new advent calendar for this upcoming holiday season. I know my kids loved it when we were trying them out! They are already talking about making different flavor cookies for this year.
