Marshmallow Magic: Dyeing Easter Delights!

Let’s take a Easter Tradition and add a marshmallow twist to it!

This Easter, why not skip the egg dyeing mess and try something even sweeter? With egg prices soaring, it’s not worth risking a cracked egg in the dyeing process. Instead, grab some marshmallows and dive into a fun, colorful activity that’s perfect for little hands. Dyeing marshmallows is not only an easy and affordable Easter craft, but it’s also a treat that everyone can enjoy! Let’s make this holiday extra sweet with a simple, mess-free, and egg-cellent alternative to the traditional dyeing fun!

What you will need:

Marshmallow Fun

The setup for dyeing marshmallows is incredibly simple, and you might already have everything you need right in your pantry! This activity doesn’t require any special ingredients or tools, making it perfect for a last-minute Easter craft. All you need are a few basic supplies which are:

  • Muffin tin
  • Water
  • Food Coloring
  • Jumbo marshmallows
  • Toothpicks
  • A small box or Styrofoam for drying

Marshmallow Fun:

You want to add a piece of foil to the top of your box or the styrofoam like in the photo below. This helps with no sticking during the drying process. After you have your foil on, if you’re using a box you want to make small holes so that your toothpicks will fit in for drying.

In your muffin tin fill up your spaces halfway with water. Leave room to dip your marshmallows. Add 3-4 drops of food coloring to your water. Give a good swirl with a toothpick.

Place a toothpick into each marshmallow that you will be dyeing. Now you’re ready to start adding color. Now dip your marshmallow into your color for 3-5 seconds. You don’t want your marshmallow to get too slimy.

Set your marshmallow aside to dry a little before adding more color. We did 2 dips of each color to get the brightness we wanted.

This is a fun and creative twist on a classic Easter tradition. Whether you use them for decorating desserts, gifting, or just enjoying a colorful treat, it’s an easy and festive way to celebrate the season.

Did you dye Easter eggs when you were younger? If so, would you try this marshmallow version for a new spin on the tradition? Let me know in the comments!
