Happy Apple Farm

Who says you missed the Pumpkin Patch party? The good news is, it’s not too late to join the fall festivities at your local Pumpkin Patch! With the colorful leaves falling and Halloween a week away, there’s still time to take a trip. Enjoy the crisp autumn air, and make cherished memories with family and friends at your local Pumpkin Patch. So grab your favorite sweater and come along as we share our visit to Happy Apple Farm.

If you’re local to the Colorado Springs area this little pumpkin patch is one that you will want to check out. This cute family-owned pumpkin patch is located at 1190 1st St, Penrose, CO 81240. It’s about a 30-minute drive from the north part of the Springs. The drive was beautiful especially now with the trees changing colors. Happy Apple Farm was the best experience and the perfect size not making it an overwhelming experience for little ones. Happy Apple Farm is open Friday thru Sunday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. No reservations are needed and no admissions! Pets are also welcome to join in on the fall fun with you.

When you park, get ready for a hayride to take you over to the pumpkins. The hayride takes you through their apple orchards. Randi from Happy Apple Farm said early to mid September is the best time to come pick apples from the farm. Sadly this year the apple crop was lost due to harsh summer weather so they didn’t have any apples to pick. I’m making sure that we don’t miss that next year, I made sure to add that to my calendar reminders for next year. If you’re an apple lover you’ll want to add this to your list for next year for sure.

While you’re picking your perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, look around, they have some cute areas set up to take family photos. I loved all the photo opportunities, the kids not so much.

You will see they have a large variety of pumpkins. From white pumpkins to vibrant orange, from small to large pumpkins. At Happy Apple Farm you pay .89 cents a pound for the pumpkins. It’s not a bad price from what I have seen at other local pumpkin patches and stores lately. Bring a little lunch with you and enjoy a picnic in the pumpkin patch at the sitting areas they have set up.

When you’re done at the pumpkin patch, hop back on the hayride and ride back to a cute store at the front of the farm. There you will find some yummy treats to take home with you from local honey, apple butter, and homemade sauces. If you’re a cider fan you will want to check out the freshly pressed apple cider they sell in half gallons and gallons. While you’re there, visit their deli which is open 9 am – 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. There you will find their red and green chili along with their homemade cinnamon rolls. Plus on the weekends they roast chili’s for you to take home.
