Okay, Mom… I’m sorry, but I think I may have officially found the best French toast recipe!  In my opinion, this French toast is everything you want it to be—golden and slightly crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy in the middle, and absolutely delicious with a little butter and maple syrup.

We made this recipe and quickly decided that it is officially our new holiday breakfast must-have. Honestly, though, why wait for a holiday? This French toast is so easy and delicious that it has become our go-to anytime we’re craving a cozy breakfast.

Whether you’re making a special Christmas morning breakfast, a lazy weekend brunch, or just want to make an ordinary morning a little more delicious, this French toast is one you’re going to want to keep coming back to. Sorry, Mom… but this one might just be my new favorite! 😉

What Ingredients you will need:

Most of these Ingredients for your french toast you will have on hand. So this makes for a great last minute dinner idea or breakfast idea on the weekend. Here is what you need:

  • 1 Loaf of Butter Bread or Brioche Bread
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • Salted Butter (to cook in)

How to make the best french toast:

Frech Toast- So Yummy
  1. Start by making the custard mixture by whisking together cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until all combined.
  2. Add a generous amount of butter to the skillet. This is what helps create the perfect golden brown outside crust on the french toast and adds flavor.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture. Allow to fully soak both sides for 20 seconds. Carefully pull the bread out of the custard and allow the excess custard to drain off of the bread. Add to the skillet.
  4. Cook low and slow. Since the bread is soaked in an egg and cream, it needs time to fully cook through. Cook on medium-low to allow the center to fully cook through without the exterior becoming brown.
  5. Cook each side for about 3-5 minutes. If the exterior is browning too fast, reduce the heat to low.
  6. Serve right away with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, salted butter, and real maple syrup.

French Toast Combinations:

Here are a couple great combinations to make with your french toast to switch things up:

  • Maple Syrup + Butter- Sweet cream butter, real maple syrup, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
  • Strawberries + Cream- Fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream
  • Chocolate + Cream- Dark Chocolate shavings and whipped cream
  • Mascarpone + Berries- Sweetened Mascarpone with Fresh Berries or Berry Syrup

And there you have it—our new favorite French toast recipe! After making this one, we decided it officially deserves a spot on our holiday breakfast table, but honestly, it’s too good to save just for special occasions.

Whether you’re making a cozy weekend breakfast, Christmas morning meal, or simply craving a delicious plate of French toast, I hope your family loves this recipe as much as ours does!
